Serhiy Savchenko

Serhiy Savchenko was born in Lvov, Ukraine in 1972 where he studied in Lvov Decorative and Applied Art College named after I. Trush and then in Lvov Academy of Art. Serhiy lives and works in Lvov , Ukraine . He has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the world: Ukraine , Austria , Czech Republic , France , Canada , USA Switzerland, Netherlands , Japan , Poland , UK and other countries.

There is no doubt that Serhiy Savchenko 's art has its own freedom, in the last ten years of his active, creative life he has proved that manytimes. It is rather hard to select the major sphere among the artist's many creative interests. His original style in still life is impressive and captivating, as are his excellent portraits, landscapes and nudes, but still life is probably his dominating genre.

The obvious femininity of Savchenkos' portraits adds to their sensuality and attraction in a way that only Renoir has demonstrated previously.

The nudes painted by Savchenko reveal deep rooted, psychological feelings of desire. Forbidden fruit is sweet leaving a taste of honey on the lips after the first view.

His landscapes are, at the same time pure and realistic, showing both modern city and country life and, in contrast, city and nature studies untouched by humanity.

The concept of still life as a means of illustrating the essence of matter has been an important part of Savchenkos work since 1997. He substitutes classic lines with colours that purposely dominate the forms to produce some extraordinarily surreal images.

This young, visionary artist has freed himself from the cold etiquette of “formal professionalism” and has developed his own individual style using a great natural sense of dimension, time and space.
